The BBC has just gone and released the single God Only Knows, arguably, the most star studded, musically beautiful and visually extravagant collaboration ever.
With the world renowned 80-piece BBC Concert Orchestra laying down wonderfully ambient instrumentation for the classic Beach Boys’ song, the cover features vocals from a crazy range of singers, including Chris Martin (Coldplay), One Direction, Lorde, Pharrell Williams, Sam Smith, Elton John, Florence Welch, Stevie Wonder, Kylie Minogue, Emeli Sandé and many more. God only knows how they made that happen.
You can check out this epic single here:
…where you will find strange things like Emeli Sandé apparently waiting to have tea with Alice (of Wonderland),
Lorde sprouting scarlet wings,
and Florence Welch wearing amazing jungle camouflage.
We get it though. The whole magical, supernatural vibe the music video gives off sort of parallels just how out of this world the collaboration is.
The single was released to celebrate the launch of BBC Music, and to showcase the BBC’s ongoing support for all genres of music, from classical, to pop, to discovering new talent. Proceeds from single sales will also raise money for BBC Children In Need, a charity for changing the lives of disabled children and youth in the UK.
